Plattsburgh State University

Beginning in August 2001 till May 2007, Plattsburgh State University was my second College that I went to. At Plattsburgh State I started out by taking two courses a semester to see if I wanted to go into Communications or not. I found out that after two full years I really did want to go into Communications but I choose to be more specific by majoring in Mass Communications. When I change my major to Mass Communication I took what I had learned thru different Extra-Curricular Activities at Hartwick College and applied it to what I was learning at Plattsburgh State. Below is a listing of the different organizations that I was apart of at Plattsburgh State. Some of them are Extra- Curricular (outside of class) and some were Curricular (class).

WQKE 93.9 FM

WQKE is where it all started at Plattsburgh State. They have been the long time student run SA (Student Association) club that consists of nearly 200 members: some of them Communication majors and some not. WQKE broadcasts on a 10 W transmitter and reaches the entire campus plus most of Plattsburgh. They broadcast 14 to 16 hours per day 7 days a week during the semester.

While at WQKE I did a morning show every Friday for 20 weeks and was the voice of Sports Recap (a two minute long recap of last nights sports news at noon). This was live to air meaning that I was announcing the information live not a pre-recorded announcement. It was interesting and was rewarding every time I did it. Doing Sports Recap set me up for PSTV as I further my experience in Mass Communication.
